D... Don't Double the Sugar

Okay so this is why I hate cooking...

I made brownies yesterday with my kiddo.  I've been super tired and for some reason I grabbed the 1/2 cup instead of the 1/3 cup.

So I ended up putting 2 and 1/2 cups of sugar in the brownies instead of  1 and 2/3 cups... uh yeah.
I realized this after I had finished whipping the batter together.  My husband suggested to just add more of everything else.  I probably should have listened.

Pretty much after eating two brownies my blood sugar was crazy...and then CRASH. I sat on the couch like a total zombie who kinda wanted to vomit... that's how much sugar was in those brownies.

I hate cooking because at least 1 out of 4 recipes I make totally crash and burn.  Yes, it's probably because of  lack of attention.  I like charring things a lot.  But still you put in all this work and for what??  Something that makes you totally want to puke.

I guess that's the problem, you screw up once and there is no forgiveness.  At least with writing I have a DELETE key and I know how to use it.

  1. Whoa. I have never seen such a dislike for cooking! Don't be so hard on yourself! Be proud that you are able to make things from scratch, you already have chosen not to take the easy way out by just buying the darn things. Goodness, just brush off or puke out the negativity and be done with it. You're too awesome to to be defeated.

  2. Like brownies aren't rich enough! I've done that before, and like your husband said, what I do is add double of everything else. Course I had a big family so they consumed whatever I made whether it was good or not.

Cooking - I love it .. but can understand when you're tired and not thinking re ingredients etc - as Raven says .. relax .. you look fairly healthy on things!

    Cheers Hilary

  4. Ahaha! I'm sorry. I'm laughing because you ate them anyway. I would do the same thing, because dang it, if I want brownies, I'm getting brownies! I'm okay at cooking, but BAKING is another story.

  5. Girl, I did the basicslly the same thing. My problem was one ingredient ask for 1 1/3 cup and the other was for 2/3 cups and I reversed it. I realized b4 mixing so I was able to correct, but what a "DUH"!!! moment.
